The reliability of heat transfer and electrical contact between the contact surfaces of the thyristor and the cooler over the entire temperature range is ensured by an appropriate torque. Prior to assembly, you should visually inspect
(1) mating surfaces for mechanical damage and wipe
(2) and soak in alcohol (toluene, gasoline, acetone). To improve the heat transfer parameters, it is recommended to lubricate
(3) a thin layer of silicone thermal paste before mounting, which is not mandatory for installation.
After installation, additional fasteners (nuts and washers) should be attached to prevent corrosion.
Power thyristors should not be operated for long periods under extreme loads for all parameters.
In this case, the safety factor is determined by the required degree of reliability of the equipment.
Replace the faulty power thyristor with a thyristor corresponding to the parameters of the thyristor to be replaced.
Subcooling must be provided when operating in environments with high ambient temperatures.
Regular cleaning of power thyristors and coolers to remove dust and contamination is recommended to ensure good heat dissipation.
An inductive shunt (usually a twisted toroid) must be used to equalize the current between the power thyristors in parallel.
The most common connection methods are closed circuits, common coil circuits or power thyristors.
In this case, the efficiency of the shunt depends on the section of the magnet wire.
Voltage imbalance when power thyristors are connected in series is avoided by using a shunt resistor in parallel with each thyristor.
Voltage equalization under transient conditions is provided by connecting a capacitor in parallel with each thyristor.
